MENGO- In a significant development, officials from the Justice Forum _(JEEMA)_ met with the Democratic Alliance at their Mengo headquarters today to discuss a unified approach to fostering reforms and creating a conducive environment ahead of the 2026 general elections.
According to sources, the meeting emphasized the importance of rallying political actors, including parties, cultural institutions, and religious organizations, to work towards a common goal.
JEEMA Secretary, Alhajji Mohamed Katerega, reiterated the party’s commitment to collaborating with all change-seeking forces, while cautioning that anti-dialogue political actors pose a threat to the success of political change in the country.
Katerega urged these actors to reconsider their approaches, emphasizing the need for constructive engagement. The interim leader of the Democratic Alliance, Rt. Hon. Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba, commended JEEMA’s reception and stressed the urgent need for all change-seeking forces to fast-track electoral reforms as the 2026 elections draw near.
Notably, the meeting revealed plans to hold a national dialogue to address reconciliation, national building, and leadership change in the country. The delegation, led by Owek. Mpuuga, included prominent figures such as Hon. Juliet Kakande, Hon. Bwanika Abed, and Hon. Kakembo Lubowa.
This development marks a significant step towards unity among opposition forces in Uganda, as they work towards creating a more conducive environment for the 2026 elections.
