NEWS- The Police in Kabale district are delving into the circumstances surrounding the death of Gidion Akanwasa, a 38-year-old court bailiff hailing from Rukungiri and residing in Kanoni village, Maziba sub-county, Kabale district.

According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Police spokesperson, on January 15th, 2024, at approximately 5AM, Hategeka Saverino, wife of Mwunva Mbonigaba, made a grim discovery of Akanwasa’s lifeless body near their house garage.

Maate clarified that the lady promptly told her husband, who was away at Kabale Central Market at that time. Upon being alerted, Mwunva hurried to Kabale Central Police Station reporting a murder case under reference: 07/15/01/2024.

In response to the information, a homicide team led by D/SP Mukama Hakim swiftly arrived at the scene, with relatives identifying the body during the removal process.

Reportedly, the victim had been ailing for a while and was found lying at the top of a cliff near the complainant’s home. It’s additionally asserted that he slipped from the cliff, leading to immediate fatality.

The scene underwent documentation, witness statements were recorded, a postmortem was conducted, and the body was handed over to relatives for a dignified burial as Police investigations remain ongoing.
