KABALE- On March 8, 2025, Kabale Diocese, through Rubanda Deanery, distributed food items to Rubanda District Hospitals and Prison. The beneficiaries of this food relief included Muko Health Center IV in Muko Sub County, Rubanda Government Prisons, and Rubanda Primary Health Care.

Each hospital received posho, rice, soap, millet flour, and salt. The distribution exercise began with a mass at Muko Health Center IV, followed by the distribution of food items to inpatients in the maternity ward. The team then proceeded to Rubanda Government Prisons and concluded at Rubanda Health Care.

Speaking to an Eye Television reporter after the donation exercise, the beneficiaries, led by Namirembe Juliet, Assistant in Charge for Muko Health Center IV, and Sister Eustinah Twebembere, Facility Administrator for Rubanda Primary Health Care, commended Kabale Diocese for the food relief donation. They noted that the situation was challenging, especially on International Women’s Day, as many had nothing to cook.

Rev. Fr. Ireneus Tibemanya, Dean of Rubanda Deanery and Parish Priest for Kishanje Catholic Parish, explained that Kabale Diocese requested Rubanda Deanery to visit Muko Health Center IV, Rubanda Government Prisons, and Rubanda Primary Health Care.

He revealed plans to open the doors of Rubanda Church in May and to organize a Deanery pilgrimage to Rubanda in August as one of the activities in the Jubilee Year which is celebrated in the universal Church after every 25 years.

Rev. Fr. Fidel Ndagijimana, the Pastoral Coordinator for Kabale Diocese, disclosed plans to extend the food relief to other deaneries in Kabale Diocese.

This exercise is part of Kabale Diocese’s participation in the Corporal Works of Mercy during the Jubilee Year 2025. He urged all the people of God to extend a helping hand to those in need as this is a fulfillment of jesus’ teaching in the Gospel of Matthew 25:31-45.
