NEWS– The Police in Kabale district are investigating circumstances surrounding the deaths of a 47 year old Mugabirwe Adrin and Turyahikayo Robert 49 all residents of Mwendo village, Nyanja parish, Maziba subcounty, Kabale district.
ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi Region Police spokesman told the press that Adrin Mugabirwe has been the wife of Turyahikayo Robert and the two have been having domestic violence.
On 8th December 2023, at around 7:30am while at their home, they got a misunderstanding and decided to fight. During the process, the said Turyahikayo picked a hoe which he hit the said wife on the head, killing her instantly.
It’s further alleged that, Turyahikayo Robert ran to his second home where he picked poison from inside the house and decided to swallow it in presence of the second wife Natukunda Judith who is pregant and could not manage to stop him, immediately becoming unconscious thereby killing himself.
Maate says Police was informed and a report of murder registered under reference number SD 71/08/12/2023 scene was visited by Kabale homicide team, examined and documented and statements were recorded from witnesses.
Maate added that the two bodies were retrieved from the scene, conveyed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination as inquiries are at hand to ascertain the motive of murder of Mugabirwe Adrin by the husband and thereafter the said husband to commit suicide.
Relatedly, the Police in Kabale district have initiated investigation into the death of a 40 year old woman Akamutuha Novance, resident of Nyakabungo village, Rwene parish, Buhara Sub County in Kabale district.
It’s alleged that, on 8th December 2023, at around 1Pm at Nyakabungo village, Rwene parish, Buhara sub County, Kabale district Akamutuha Novance was killed by unknown.
ASP Elly Maate told the press that a 20 year old Ayebare Rosette a nurse resident of Nyakabungo village, while she was from weeding her beans in rain, she found a dead body of a young child lying down along the foot path, near the home of Tirivamunda Francis.
Maate noted that the nurse immediately went and informed Tirivamunda Francis and others who proceeded to the scene and found when its their grand-daughter dead with a fresh deep cut wound on the neck.
Police at Rwene post was notified and a report of murder registered under reference 03/08/12/2023.
The scene was thereafter visited by Kabale homicide team, examined and documented, statements were recorded from witnesses and body was retrieved to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
The Police spokesman confided to this reporter that inquiries are still at hand to identify the suspect(s) and have them prosecuted.
