NEWS- The Kabale Municipality Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Nicholas Thaddeus Kamara, has pledged to provide a full set of Mama Kit to every expectant mother from Kabale Municipality. This initiative aims to reduce cases of women giving birth at home or in unsafe environments.
The legislator made this announcement during the thanksgiving ceremony of Christ the King’s Parish catechist Maximiano Tushabomwe, held at his residence in Kigongi Central Division, Kabale Municipality.
Speaking to the gathering, Kamara revealed that he has already distributed over 400 Mama Kits to expectant mothers from Kabale Municipality but stressed that beneficiaries must first present their antenatal cards.
The Mama Kit contains essential items, including two polyethylene bags, cotton, 10 gloves, 10 sanitary pads, and other vital materials.
Kamara also unveiled plans to introduce an ambulance service to Kabale Municipality, which will transport expectant mothers to hospitals.
He highlighted his previous achievements, noting that he has fulfilled his pledge to provide ultrasound scans to Rugarama, Kirigime, Kamukyira, and Rushoroza Hospitals. Additionally, he trained health workers to operate the scanners.
Kamara expressed hope that the free Mama Kits and ultrasound scans will improve healthcare service delivery for expectant mothers in Kabale Municipality.
