NEWS- Parents have been urged to ensure their children arrive on time to avoid poor performance as schools resumed for the first term.
Mrs. Peninah Ssajabi Twebaze, the deputy headteacher of Kigezi High School in Kabale, emphasized this while speaking to the press as days reopened for first term 2024. Twebaze told journalists that students who arrive late tend to miss out on the foundational activities crucial for preparing well for the term.
In other parts of the Municipality, schools such as God’s Favor Nursery and Primary School, Ebenezer Christian School, Excel, and Brainstorm High School have reported a slightly good percentage of students who returned for studies on the first day.
Saturday Kahesi Collins, the director of God’s Favor Nursery and Primary School, told our reporter that 50% of the pupils had arrived at the school but emphasized that parents should understand the changes in the education system, especially in the digital era.
With improved infrastructure and schools hiring personnel to clean the compounds and classrooms, he urged parents to always send their children on the first day since classes usually commence on that date.
Bikorwomuhangi Bernard, the headteacher of Brainstorm High School, expressed that parents should not hesitate to bring back their children to school due to financial constraints but instead encouraged them to reach out to school administrators to find a solution for their children to continue their studies.
Bikorwomuhangi also urged students to utilize their time at school wisely and focus on improving their academic performance.
At Ebenezer Christian Primary School, Headteacher Bagyenyi Apollo emphasized the importance of parents ensuring that their children return to school on time.
In cases where parents encounter difficulties, particularly with school fees, they are encouraged to seek permission from school administrators. However, it is crucial not to delay students from attending school.
