NEWS- Kabale University’s aspiring guild president, Buhungiro Andrew Tomson (BAT), has revealed his manifesto aimed at uniting students and achieving academic excellence.
Addressing students during an open-air campaign and public debate held at the university playground in Southern Division, Kabale Municipality, Buhungiro said that once elected, he is ready to focus on academic excellence.
He plans to involve different students with resources and support they need to excel academically. Buhungiro acknowledged that some students face challenges in continuing their education and pledged to introduce a “Save a Friend Association” once elected. This association will be monitored by the guild government.
Buhungiro hopes that this association will have help many students by the end of his term in 2025. The 2024/2025 aspiring guild president emphasized that his administration will prioritize health and student wellbeing.
He plans to offer support services such as guidance and counseling, stress management, and mindful programs to promote mental health. Buhungiro also vowed to create a safe and inclusive campus environment that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion of all students.
He noted that his government will address social affairs, considering the university’s diverse student body with different backgrounds, tribes, and nationalities. Buhungiro further pledged to maintain close relationships with the university’s security and emergency service department to ensure students feel safe and secure both on and off campus.
Additionally, Buhungiro aims to focus on games and sports, emphasizing talent identification and development.
