NEWS- The Police in Kakumiro district are holding one Robert Nkumire a teacher at Busanga primary school and resident of Kasambya for allegedly sodomizing a primary seven pupil.

Speaking to journalists in his office on Monday, Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson explained that on November 8, 2023, the teacher asked the victim, a boy aged 17-years and pupil of Busanga primary school whose name has been withheld if he has ever used a condom before.

After the victim denied ever using a condom, he then told him to fix time and meet him at his home. Hours later, the teacher sent the cook to call the boy for him.

Nkumire allegedly drove the boy to his home in Kasambya where he sodomized him at around 7Pm in the evening.

The victim, the next day reported the incident to his school head teacher who advised him to report the matter to his parents after the Primary Leaving Exams- PLE.

Hakiza said it has also been established that Nkumire is a habitual offender who sodomized another boy in 2022 from Kirasa primary school, Kakindo Sub County from where he was arrested and released later.

The Police spokesman added that the suspect is currently detained at Kakumiro Central Police Station.

Relatedly, the Police in Kakumiro district are investigating circumstances under which three people were lynched to death by an angry mob.

The deceased are Alex Twinomugisha 20, a resident of Kaboijana East Cell, Ronny Namanya 22, a resident of Kyamulinya cell and Hatwibu Alias Muzigu 25, a resident of Kaboijana cell all in Igayaza town council.

Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson said police preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased and two others who are still at large were lynched by an angry mob on allegations of attempting to steal a coffee milling machine.

The five were travelling on two motorcycle registration numbers UFU 965Y and UFV 303P.

It is alleged that on the fateful day, the five who had planned to steal a coffee milling machine were diverted to stealing from a bar in Kibijo village.

The bar owner alerted locals who mounted a search leading to the arrest of three of the five who were beaten to death by locals.  

The bodies were taken to Kakumiro H/C IV for postmortem as Hakiza warns the public against mob justice stressing that it kills evidence.
