The Police in Kanungu District have arrested a 30 year old man identified as Mwebesa Naboth for allegedly assault
of his own biological 9 year old son Amutuhaire Emmanuel a pupil at Zendeire Primary School and resident of Kazinga upper village Rushoroza parish Kihihi Sub-county leading to his death.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed the murdee and said that It’s alleged that the incident took place last night at the above address, when Mwebesa who is now the suspect went home late and found his son had not cooked food.
Mwebesa is reported to hav started beating him until became weak and he decided to take him to the nearby clinic for treatment, where he passed on moments later.
This prompted the suspect to notify his brother Sunday who in turn informed the Area Chairperson Asimwe Sulait who arrested the suspect and took him to Kihihi Police Station.
The scene of crime was visited, examined and documented,
statements recorded from relevant witnesses and the postmortem examination has been done.
Maate said that investigations are ongoing and upon completion, the suspect will be produced before courts of law and charged with aggravated torture leading to death.
