It is believed that trouble arose when a heated argument broke out between Tugume and Musiibe before Christopher intervened, urging Musiibe to disengage from the altercation. Despite the warning, the trio left the bar at 10pm but Tugume never made it home.

Maate confided to the pres that concerned for her son’s well-being, Tugume’s mother, Tindamanyire, initiated a search on December 5, 2023 morning. It was after exhausting efforts to locate him at the trading center, among friends and relatives that she reported his disappearance to the Kihihi Police station.

Tragically, on December 6, 2023, at around 11am, a villager named Kato Rosemary discovered Tugume’s lifeless body in Kayembe village while tending to her goats in a nearby bush. The LC1 chairperson of Kayembe was alerted, confirming the identity of the deceased as Tugume Moses.

Law enforcement promptly responded to the scene, conducting a thorough investigation. The body, showing signs of stab wounds, scratches, and a partially severed neck, was documented, and a sketch plan of the scene was drawn.

Tugume’s remains were transported to the Kihihi Health centre IV mortuary for a postmortem examination before being handed over to grieving relatives for a dignified burial. David Nkwasibwe was arrested as a suspect in the case, while Musiibe remains at large.

As the community mourns the loss of one of its own, the Kanungu Police continue their inquiries into the circumstances surrounding Moses Tugume’s tragic demise.
