The Police in Kanungu District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 30 years old woman identified as Atwikirize Mackline, who was allegedly found lying dead at St Andrews Catholic Church play ground today morning.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists that it’s alleged that, Atwikirize who was a resident of Mukirwa Parish in Kinaaba Sub-county,
sold her pig and matooke at Ugx 900,000 and later went to Kinaaba market and bought some clothes.
Its reported that later during evening hours, she went in the bar where she was seen with some men yet to be identified taking alcohol and left the bar going back home with those same men, only to be found lying dead today morning at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church play ground by children who were going to the garden.
Maate explained that the scene of crime was visited, the sniffer dog was introduced at the crime scene and it led to the arrest of one suspect whose names were not revealed due to sensitivity of the matter but who will help in Investigations.
Maate said that the postmortem examination was done at the crime scene and the body was later handed over to the relatives for burial as investigations continue.
