NEWS– The Police in Kanungu District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 25 year old woman identified as Domiyira Kyasimire a house wife and resident of Rwerere village, Rusoroza Parish in Kihiihi Sub county, whose decomposing body was on Thursday discovered hanging on a tree in Anna Bahati’s garden.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman ASP Elly Maate told journalists that it is alleged that deceased disappeared on the 12th May 2024, without her husband’s knowledge. She was seen on Thursday by one Bahati Anna hanging on some tree in her garden and she informed the area LC 1 Chairman Asimwe Sulaiman who made a report at Kihihi Police Station.
The scene of crime was visited and documented, body was lowered from the rope and was taken to Kihihi Health Centre IV Mortuary for postmortem examination, and after which was handed to the relatives for decent burial.
Maate said that the husband to the deceased, Ngurusi Ezra has since disappeared from home and is on now run for unknown reasons, but is suspected to have strangled the deceased and disappeared because preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was murdered by strangulation and later hanged on the tree.
Maate said that a case of murder by strangulation has been registered at Kihihi Police Station under reference number CRB 157/2024 to help in investigations.
