NEWS– The Police in Kanungu are hunting for a 28 year old man identified as Amosi Nuwagaba allegedly for assault of his biological father Emmanuel Bareeba who died instantly.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the incident that occurred last week on 4th July in Kyeshero Central Parish, in Kyeshero Sub County in Kanungu district.
It’s alleged that on the 4th July 2024, Bareeba blamed his son Nuwagaba for stealing his coffee from the house and sold it and this annoyed him and jumped on his father and started boxing and kicking him on the stomach and ribs and thereafter used a stick.
It is reported that immediately after the sssault, Bareeba who sustained bruises on the face, back and the stomach, went and reported the matter to the area chairman LC1 of Kyeshero Central cell Munyantware Andrew from where he was taken and admitted at Bwindi Community hospital for treatment where he died on the 8th July 2024.
A report of Assault was entered at Kyeshero Police Post, the scene of crime visited and documented, statements recorded and postmortem examination was done, but the suspect who was known as a habitual drug addict is alleged to have escaped to Democratic Republic of Congo after getting information that his father had died.
Maate said that a case of murder resulting from assault was registered at Kyeshero Police Post under reference number SD 06/08/07/2024 to help in investigations as efforts are made to arrest the suspect.
