KASESE– In the heart of Western Uganda, nestled between the snow-capped peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains and the fertile plains of the Rift Valley, lies Kasese District—a land of natural beauty, cultural diversity, and remarkable history.
On 30th April 2025, Kasese will mark its Golden Jubilee, a momentous occasion celebrating 50 years of transformation, resilience, and progress.
A Journey Through Time
Established in 1974, Kasese has grown from a humble trading center to a bustling economic hub. Once known primarily for copper mining at Kilembe, the district has diversified its economy into agriculture, tourism, and trade.

Its vibrant tourism sector, anchored by Queen Elizabeth National Park, the Rwenzori Mountains, and the Kazinga Channel, has positioned the district as a prime destination for both local and international travelers.
Throughout its history, Kasese has faced challenges, from political conflicts to natural disasters. Yet, the unwavering spirit of its people has propelled it forward, making it a beacon of resilience and unity in Uganda.
