The Kasese Municipal Mayor Chance Kahindo says the project would solve the flood challenges in the town center which was caused by Kamulikwizi River during the rainy season.

However, the mayor warned people who have intentionally built in the River channel to immediately vacate for the project to go on adding that affected persons would not be compensated.

Rev. Eng. Gabriel Fataki of Fencon consulting Engineers limited says the project would only take two weeks to have been completed adding that they will even install culverts on the affected roads for connectivity.

Fataki courted the community members to work closely with the company in both inspections and implementing of the project for quality work.

Dr. Geoffrey Gabiri, the climate change specialist at the Food and Agriculture organization of the United Nations says the project would help to put the river in one channel rather than spreading in the community.

Some of the LCI chairpersons including Mr. Samson and Jafali Kigutia of Basecamp lower together with community members appreciated Food and Agriculture organization of United Nations FAO for the initiative saying the river was affecting their developments in the area.
