NEWS- The Police in Rwenzori East Region in Kasese District is hunting for Mr. Robert Muhindo, a health worker at Bwera Government General Hospital in Mpondwe- Lhubiriha Town Council for allegedly extorting money from patients at the facility.
SP Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson told the press today morning at Kasese Central Police Station that decision to look for Muhindo was reached after several reports and complaints from the patients.
The complaints according to him are registered at Bwera Police Station.
He revealed that the patients alleged that Muhindo was soliciting money from them under the pretence of medical bills.
SP Tumushime noted that when police reached the hospital to apprehend the suspect, he fled the scene.
He used the same platform to issue a stern warning to the medical practitioners to stop engaging themselves in acts of extorting money from patients at government health facilities.
