NEWS- Members of Kasese Political Forum, a platform that brings together all political parties in the district have outlined a list of priority projects that they want the district leaders to accomplish in this New Year 2024.
Led by the Forum’s Chairperson, Neckson Mbahayi, the members want the district leaders to lobby for the implementation of a number of projects including mini-irrigation schemes in an attempt to address the challenge of food insecurity.
The members also advocate for the elevation of Kasese Municipal Council into a Mineral City and upgrade of Kasese Airfield to an International Airport so as to address the transplantation challenges.
They suggest to the government to look for some potential investors to revamp Kilembe Mines and Katwe Salt Processing Factory.
According to Mr. Mbayahi, the leaders should also lobby for a government grant –aided university in the district to offer numerous courses like Geology, Mining and Petroleum since the district is blessed with a lot of minerals.
Mbayahi also says they want the leaders to work on the Affirmative Action for Sustainable Peace in the Rwenzori sub-region, settle land conflicts and offer improved health services to the residents coupled with establishing a government grant –aided secondary school in every sub-county among other projects. If well addressed, the Forum’s members are optimistic that issues related to unemployment among the youth would be solved and the community would realize development.
