Uganda Security Officials taking close surveillance along Lake Edward

NEWS– Local Chairpersons from Bukonzo County West in Kasese district have been tasked to guarantee vigilance in their areas of jurisdictions for security purpose.

Lt. Maate Magwara, the Kasese Deputy RDC in-charge of Bukonzo County sounded the remarks last evening during a security meeting that was attended by the village and sub-county Chairpersons at Mpondwe – Lhubiriha Town Council offices located at Kaserengethe Cell.

The Deputy RDC stressed that the UPDF were seriously hitting the ADF rebels in the Eastern part of DRC under the Operation Shujja, adding that because of that such wrong elements in society might be tempted to cross to Uganda to escape from the fighting.

He subsequently called for the formulation of village security committees as a way of strengthening security in their areas of command.

Lt. Magwara further discouraged the Local Council Chairpersons from the practice of collaborating with the ADF rebels, arguing that such a practice compromises security.

SP Ramadhan Tai, the Bwera Divisional Police Commander observed need for the Local Council Chairpersons to embark on community mobilization and cooperate with police to enhance community policing activities for effective information sharing.

Meanwhile, some Local Council Chairpersons pledged to go by the RDC’s advice and also cooperate with the security operatives in a bid to guarantee security of the residents that they lead.
