The Police in Kazo District are investigating a case of murder by strangulation and an aggravated robbery that occurred in Buremba Town Council.
The deceased is NUWAGIRA AMOS, aged 35, a veterinary practitioner, resident in Bwizi A Cell, Kijooha Ward, Buremba Town Council, Kazo District. He was reportedly attacked and killed, and several items were stolen during the incident.
According to reports, the incident occurred at an unknown time on 03/10/2026 and was reported at around 0700 hours at Buremba Police Station.
It is alleged that on 02/10/2026 at about 2130 hours, BAHIKIRE WINNIE, wife to the deceased, went for night prayers within Bwizi Cell. She reportedly returned home at around 0600 hours.
On arrival, she reportedly called their daughter from outside to open the door, and upon entering the house, she discovered that the following items were missing: Motorcycle Registration Number UEW 890Y (Bajaj Boxer, red in colour), Television set, Solar battery, Cash amounting to UGX 800,000 and a smart phone
Rwizi Region Police spokesman Samson Kasasira told the press that the wife then proceeded to the bedroom and allegedly found her husband murdered. She raised an alarm, and members of the public gathered before police arrived.
Police noted that there were no signs of forced entry, suggesting that the doors may not have been locked, possibly because the deceased expected his wife to return from the prayers.
So far, no arrests have been made as investigations are ongoing. The body of the deceased has been taken to Ruhooko Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Investigations continue and police are urging anyone with useful information to report to the nearest police station or contact Buremba Police Station.
