NEWS- Kampala Capital City Authority- KCCA has launched a report on biodiversity and social- ecological assessment of birds in Kampala City.
The report conducted by Makerere University, documented 108 bird species and over 2000 individuals of birds within Kampala.
According to the report the most dominant birds are Marabou storks, Black kites, Pied crows, Cattle egret, Eastern plantain eater among others.
The senior Lecture in the school of Forestry, Environmental and Geographical Sciences at Makerere University, Dr. Daniel Waiswa, who presented the report noted that the survey was conducted to better the understanding of the distribution, diversity and local social-ecological perspectives of conservation of wild vertebrates to aid in the development of the Blue and,Green Infrastructure Master Plan for Kampala City.
He said the birds presence is attributed to poor management issues in Kampala that keep them enjoying different dead animals advising KCCA to work on it.

Meanwhile Dr. Waiswa urged KCCA to ensure that habitat areas for these birds are conserved because many of them are under threat due to human settlement and agriculture activities which could result into losing many of them.
