RUKUNGIRI- Kebisoni Health Center IV Theater in Kebisoni Town Council, Rukungiri District which has been under renovation for the last 6 months has been commissioned to start operating once again.
The facility was early this year closed by the Rukungiri District Local Government and patients especially women who needed surgery during birth were redirected to other nearby facilities as the unit got state of art rehabilitation and renovations.
The function was presided over by Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner Steven Nsubuga Bewayo who called on the health workers to give enough time to their work since the government has enhanced their salaries.
The renovation was carried out by MECIWEL INVESTMENT Ltd at a cost of Ugx 40 million and according to Rukungiri District Health Officer Dr Akasiima Mucunguzi, the civil works included general repairs and fittings including the flooring.
The RDC hailed the contractor MECIWEL INVESTMENT Ltd for executing the work in the time frame which will enable pregnant mothers who have been trecking long distances to receive services nearby and commended the quality work done at the facility bearing in mind that renovation work is not easy.
He also thanked the Health Management team at the facility which has worked well together with the technocrats to ensure that the renovations are done and assured that the government will look into the concerns raised which include getting the land title for the facility and a befitting blood bank for the facility.
He however asked the technical and management team at the health facility to ensure that the infrastructure put in place by the government and donors are maintained for the current and future use to benefit the coming generations.
The event was attended by the Secretary for Social Services, Ms Caledonia Musiimenta who represented the LC 5 Chairman Geoffrey Kyomukama who is out of the District on official duty and hailed the teamwork exhibited by Kebisoni Town Council leaders which has enabled the facility to be renovated.
The event was also attended by Deputy CAO Rukungiri District, the District Engineer, Kebisoni Town Council leadership led by the Mayor Alex Nathan Mugabe and Town Clerk Ms Adrine Keshaha, the Health Unit Management Committee Members and staff and representatives of the Contractor.
Kebisoni Health Center IV is strategically located in a catchment area that attracts patients from greater Rubabo County, Mitooma, Ntungamo, Rukiga and Kanungu Districts and lies on the Rukungiri – Ntungamo Highway.
