RUKUNGIRI- All roads this weekend are leading to Bugangari Sub County playground in Rujumbura County, Rukungiri District on the final day of a Constituency inter sub county football tournament.
The tournament is funded by the Rujumbura County Legislator, who is also the Country’s Security Minister, Hon Jim Muhwezi Katugugu to identify talents that can be supported and developed to earn from sports.
This year’s final will see Nyakagyeme Sub County tussle it out with Bwambara Sub County in a thriller that will see the winner walk away with a trophy, medals and Ugx 2,000,000 cash prize. The first runner up with Ugx 1,500,000, the second runners up with Ugx 1,000,000 while the fourth positioned sub county will walk away with Ugx 700,000.
Additionally, all other sub county teams that played but never made it to the semifinals will go home with Ugx. 500,0000, courtesy of Minister Jim Katugugu Muhwezi.
According to Ahimbisbwe Dan Bahamire, the chief organizer of this tournament, they will as well reward individual Brilliance especially, the top scorer, Most Valued Player and discipline.
Bahamire told www.informer.co.ug that the day will also feature the females finals that will be between Rwerere Town Council and Ruhinda Sub County where the winner will walk home with Ugx 1 Million, the first runners up with Ugx 700,000 as the rest of the sub counties that participated will walk away with Ugx 300,0000 each.
At the same day, Bugangari Sub County and Ruhinda Sub County will battle for the third place play off.
According to him, the event will be presided over by the Deputy Speaker of Uganda’s 11th Parliament who is also the Ruhinda North County legislator, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, together with a number of National and District leaders as well as religious leaders from all the denominations.
The event will also see revelers entertained by top Ugandan artistes led by the President of Uganda Musicians Association and BET award winner Edrisa Musuza aka Eddy Kenzo, Western Uganda’s finest Ray G. these will be joined by other top brands including Ronald Mayinja, Gravity Omutujjua and Mariam Namukasa aka Lady Mariam, Rasta Charz and all the Rukungiri based musicians.
With days just numbered to the event, team managers, captains and players are all optimistic of winning this year’s accolades.
According to the organisers, all the day’s activities will be cost free.
Kuteesa Edwin Kaziriri, the team leader of Foot soldiers, told our reporter that Security will be guaranteed during the event since the host is the line Minister, thus rallying Rujumbura Constituents, Rukungiri and entire Ugandans as a whole to come and become part of the celebrations.
Kuteesa also rallied the natives to ensure preparing enough food and drinks to cater for a magnitude of the populace that will flock Bugangari on Saturday at the Jim Muhwezi Cup 2024-25.
During the day, the legislator will as well give accountability to the constituents on what has been achieved in the 2021-2026 National Resistance Movement, NRM manifesto, what is pending and what could be honoured in the remaining time.
