KANUNGU- Kinkizi High School Alumni under their umbrella Association ‘The Stronger Together Association’ have donated 150 bags of cement to their former school in what they termed as their 3rd Home Coming which is an initiative to support the development of the School.
The Stronger Together Association is composed of will old students of Kinkizi High School Nyakatare and is headed by a 9 strong member Board of Directors chaired by Ms Kiconco Namara and others include Nasasira Junior, Dr Twinamasiko Precious, Tumwekwase Braim, Mucunguzi Boaz, Amasiko Allan, Niwaha Bright, Ms Natukunda Susan and Namara Ezra as their patron.
Yesterday event was such a third ‘Home Coming’ when the Alumni return to their former school where they bring with them cash or material contribution towards supporting ongoing developmental activities at the school which nurtured them into what they are.
The Old Students return to the school started in 2022 when they came up with the “Buy a Book” initiative and mobilized procurement of books worth Ugx 8 million which became a symbol of their commitment to support the education of the next generation.
“Following this, our efforts did not stop and in 2024, we launched the establishment of an e-library which is a modern resource in supporting students in their academic journey” Ms Kiconco explained.
She also said that the e-library initiative has become vital especially as the world is increasingly embracing digital learning and through this, the Old Students ensured that the current students at the school have unlimited access to a wide range of materials to aid their studies and further enhance their academic experience.
The Alumni have this year 2025, mobilized funds and procured 150 bags of Cement which they transported to the school and handed them over to the Headteacher Rev Emmanuel Mutabazi as a contribution to the ongoing infrastructural developments that include dormitory construction and sanitary development.
While addressing the current students, Ms Kiconco made it categorically clear clears that, without the shadow of doubt, they are capable of making it in life although the journey ahead mat not very easy but hard work, perseverance and patience will make them overcome their challenges.
While drawing from Bble in the Gospel of John Chapter 16 verse 33, Ms Kiconco said that in this world, there are many trials and tribulations but once cheered, you overcome the world and also encouraged the current students to continue striving for excellence because along the way they meet many opportunities that will shape their lives, but they values they attain at Kinkizi High School which include resilience, integrity and community will guide their success in life.
While speaking at the same event current Chairperson of the Association Executive Committee, Allan Matsiko who is now a consultant and personal finance educator at Uganda Institute of Banking and Financial Service urged the students not to settle for less, but strive to become pace setters and get on top of the world to make life meaningful.
The Kinkizi Chairman Board of Governors Goddie Willy Bakiga hailed the Alumni for the spirit of togetherness which has culminated into their unwavering efforts to support their former school which will go a long way in the development of the facility for generations to come.
Bakiga who is the former Kanungu District Education Officer said that the Alumni decision to support the school is not taken for granted because it is such efforts that can help in minimising the challenges identified in the school management.
The Headteacher Rev Emmanuel Mutabazi hailed the Old Students by coming up with an Association which solely strives to support the holistic development of the School saying that this year’s initiative of ‘Buy a Cement’ will go a long way in supporting the infrastructural developments ongoing at the school.
The event was attended by 50 Alumni who included Medical Doctors, Teachers, Nurses, Lawyers, Engineers, Business managers, Accountants, Police and Army Officer to mention but a few all who are bound and driven by the vision to celebrate their success by giving back to their former school whether they left last year or many decades ago.
