KANUNGU- Kinkizi West Member of Parliament Hon James Ruggi Kaberuka has assured the members of Kihihi Full Gospel Church that he will work with new installed leaders in order to promote development among the worshipers.
Hon Kaberuka made the remarks yesterday while speaking at the ordination and installation of the Kanungu Regional Full Gospel Church Overseer Rev Turyomurugyendo Vanance and his wife Fausta at their Church in Kihihi Town Council.
Hon Kaberuka promised to cooperate with the new leaders of Kihihi Full Gospel Church especially now that they have become an independent institution from the mother Church in Rukungiri and called for Unity among the followers.
The colourful ceremony was presided over by the National Overseer of Full Gospel Churches Kinataama Patton Paul assisted by several Pastors and the function was also uses to bid farewell to Bishop Christopher Makanda who has been the overseer of Rukungiri and Kanungu Churches.
In his speech Bishop Makanda narrated how the Full Gospel Church started in Kanungu in 1984 with a first Church at Kambuga which was later transfered at the present site in Kihihi and has managed to establish more many churches across the District and thanked Pastor Justus Monday and his wife Annet who were instrumental in ensuring that the Full Gospel Church at Kihihi became a center of excellence.
The new overseer Turyomurugyedo Vennance was gifted with a car to help him do the work of God and the aspiring Kanungu Woman candidate Ms Betty Namara Kataba pledged to fill it’s tank with fuel to enable him start on his duties.
Ms Namara Kataba said that she was humbled to be among the guests who have witnessed the inauguration of the new Overseer for Full Gospel Church in Kihihi and pledged support in all developmental activities they will be carrying out.
At the same event 3 other Reverends who include Rev Byomuhangi Frank, Mugisha John and Kiconco Denis were ordained and will join the rest of the Pastors under the Full Gospel Churches to spread the word of God.
While speaking at the same event, the Deputy RDC Gad Ahimbisibwe Rugaju congratulated the new leaders and pledged support to the newly installed Overseer for Kanungu District and asked him to make use of his office.
RDC Ahimbisibwe Rugaju called for cooperation amongst the reloigious leaders saying that the government appreciates their work in transforming society especially by supporting government programs like Parish Development Model, Emyooga, the Youth Livelihoods and Uganda Women Empowerment Programme.
The National Overseer of Full Gospel Churches in Uganda Kinataama Patton Paul noted that there were few people to serve in the church and called on the members of Full Gospel Church in Kihihi to ensure that their children are educated to fill the gaps.
He said that the starting of Kanungu Region Full Gospel Church was a testimony that the church which currently has 2,300 has spread and needs trained human resource to ensure that they run their facilities which include institutions of higher learning, secondary and primary schools and health facilities across the country.
Kinataama Patton said that the creation of Kanugu Region Full Gospel Church is a testimony that there is spiritual growth of a new journey in the District.
Meanwhile the Kinkizi West Member of Parliament Hon James Rujji Kaberuka has tasked the government to work on Bwindi Impenetrable Tourism roads which has turned into the death trap of many lives following the accident which happened on 27th January 2025 leaving one tourist from the United States of America dead.
While addressing the media at the spot where the incident took place yesterday, Hon Kaberuka noted that it was the poor and narrow road with small bridge which led the vehicle end up in the river.
Hon Kaberuka called upon the government to take immediate effect on tourism roads since Uganda largely depend on tourism sector saying that these incidents that are happening to tourists will reduce tourism economy.
He said that Uganda government should copy from Rwanda that has small number of mountain gorillas but receive a lot of tourists who bring in revenue because of good infrastructure and further said that Bwindi Impenetrable National Park collects alot of revenue which is enough to construct its tourism roads.
While speaking on the same venue Kanungu District Speaker Frank Byaruhanga questioned why the government has failed to put these roads on plan yet as the District Council have been giving submission to the central government
Hon Kaberuka later visited Bwindi Community Hospital and checked on the conditions of the survivors who are now out of danger and are to be airlifted and be flown to their country of origin.
