NEWS- The police at Kira road police station have recovered a riffle with two rounds of ammunition and arrested two of the suspected aggravated robbers in a Ugx 62 million robbery incident.
The incident that saw Ugx 62 million robbed occurred on 21st October 2024 at around 3:25 pm in Central zone near Nambi mall on Mbogo road (Kiwatule-Najjera road) Kiwatule parish Nakawa Division, Kampala District.
According to police, they were informed by Lillian Nuwakunda female adult 37 years old munyankole by tribe and the managing director JJJ’s Super Agent Limited located in Kiwatule Balintuma zone on Mbogo road (Kiwatule-Najjera road) resident of Nalya in Kira municipality in Wakiso district on tel. 0702153578.
The police noted that the information came in to the OC one ASP Walubo Benon that there was a robbery near Nambi mall where money cash totalling to 62millons was in transit in a bag on a company motorcycle bajaj boxer red in colour reg UFA 843L by one of the employees from JJJ’s Super Agent Limited escorted by a private security guard from Trust security company and were intercepted by around six men moving on motorcycles armed with pangas threatening to kill them, surrounded them, injured the security guard, disarmed him, grabbed the bag of money and fled the scene towards Najjera on Mbogo road.
A team of police officers from Kiwatule police station commanded by the OC station one Asp walubo Benon and this made a great achievement that forced the thugs to abandon the gun SAR registration no. UGPOL10058136109420 with four rounds of live ammunition on Bulabila road found in Najjera, Kira municipal in Wakiso district but fled with the bag of money.
The DPC kira Road SP Rutambika Tyson, the DCIO kira Road and the team visited and documented the scene and the gun recovered as the DPC ordered for immediate intervention by hunting for the thugs and two of them have been arrested with one motorcycle reg. No. UGG 054R Haojue from Ntinda.
From the police findings, the gun bat was broken and fell on the road, Cash amounting to Ugx 62 million was taken and no cash has been recovered yet.
The police revealed that from the two arrested, one has been identified by more than ten people to have seen him and that he was the one who disarmed the private guard as the Security guard himself identified him.
The security guard was injured on the head on the right side near the eye. The police advised the companies to always at least employ more than two armed guards to escort the cash to and from the bank.
The case of aggravated robbery has since been recorded at Kira road division headquarters vide vide sd ref:36/21/10/2024.
