KAMPALA – Legendary American  saxophonist Kirk Whalum is in the country  ahead of the dfcu Jazz in the Pearl Festival slated for Saturday, May 10, 2025.

Kirk has been very instrumental  in working behind the scenes to great songs   such as ” I will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston  which is global song for the century.

The 66 year old grammy Award  winner  has been  known for his songs that include; ” Now till Forever”, ” Same ole Love ”  “Falling in Love with Jesus ” and many others.

The  jazz man  has also  collaborated with the likes of Quincy Jones, Jonathan Butler, and Chante Moore  is bringing his signature sound to the party capital in Kampala

“It is my third time performing in Uganda, but my excitement is fever pitch. I can’t wait to serenade my fans. Each performance feels brand new to me. Hope to see my fans in large numbers,” Whalum said with cheers when he arrived at the airport 

The Jazz – cultural  ” soiree”  will be a celebration  of great talent and shall feature Uganda’s Jazz strong- holds like; Isaiah Katumwa, Tshaka Mayanja, and the ever-vibrant Black Roots Academy of Soul and others.

It will also be  an evening that blends groove and story-telling of musical excellence and performance that one can not afford to miss.

For the night the general tickets will cost a paltry Ugx. 250, 000 and a table for Ugx. 6, 000, 000.
