The Police in Kisoro District have arrested a 24 year old man identified as Kwizera Andrew for alleged murder of his 72 year old mother Molly Nyirabirihanze both residents of Rukoro village Rukoro Ward in Kyanika Town Council.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists that the incident took place last night at Rukoro village above address when the suspect developed a domestic issue with his wife and they started fighting.
It is reported that the fight prompted his mother who is now deceased to wake up and rescue her daughter inlaw and when she reached, her son picked a wooden stick and hit her on the head that left her with deep injuries that resulted to over bleeding and likely causing her death.
The Police that were first to arrive at the scene of crime filed a case of murder to guide investigation and the was visited, processed and documented.
Some statements were obtained from eye witnesses, the killer weapon (exhibit) wooden stick stained with blood has been recovered and the body was conveyed to Kisoro General Hospital for postmortem examination and the body was handed over to relatives for descent burial.
Maate said that investigations and inquiries are at hand and upon the completion of inquiries, the suspect will be taken to courts of law for prosecution.
