Bobi Wine in Rukungiri

RUKUNGIRI- The National Unity Platform (NUP) President, Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bob Wine has praised the former FDC president Col Dr. Kiiza Besigye for being eye opener to Ugandans who have been in captivity for long.

Kyagulanyi, who is on a country wide mobilization tour, visited Rukungiri district on Wednesday and opened a NUP office at Independence road in Rukungiri Municipality.

He was accompanied by leader of opposition Joel Senyonyi, Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake among others. He addressed a rally at Kagashe play ground in Eastern division after being denied an entry at Rukungiri main stadium.

“We were denied the main stadium in town and they threw us here in the village but it was to my advantage because I have seen the level of poverty in the village and bad road network which I will work on when I get into the state house,” he said.

Kyagulanyi said that it was Besigye who started this struggle when most of us were saying that he had a personal problem with President Yoweri Museveni until we all saw that what he was saying was very true.

“I want to thank you also for supporting Besigye for all these years, its good we work together and he is our chief political advisor in politics,” he said.

He added that the struggle they are now in is not for NUP or FDC but its collective effort to change the lives of all Ugandans.

“Your hearing what youth is doing in Kenya at the end of the day they are bringing a positive change in Kenya which we can also do here: he said.

Kyagulanyi said that since Youth contributes the largest population in Uganda it can bring a change when mobilized very well.

He said that though I was denied the main stadium, I got a chance to address the people of Rukungiri on Country FM, a local radio station in Rukungiri.

“I have been in western region for three days but was not allowed to access any radio station apart from Rukungiri. That’s the reason I can say you were liberated.”  He said.

Joel Senyonyi, the leader of opposition said that he is ready to fight on corrupt leaders so that by the time Kyagulanyi is made President there will be no corrupt leaders in the country.

“You know the fish start rotting from the head, most corrupt leaders are those on top but we shall not leave any stone unturned as far as corruption is concerned,” he said.
