KAMPALA– Two people have been confirmed dead in an accident involving fourteen motorvehicles and 2 motorcycles.

SP Kananura Michael the directorate of traffic Police Public Relations Officer told the press that the accident involved a Motorvehicle Reg. UBD 520H Fuso Box Body, thirteen other cars & two Motorcycles.

Kananura stresses that it happened on Thursday evening 7th December 2023 on the Northern Bypass- Namboole Round about at about 7:00pm. 

According to Police, initial reports from their first responders, the driver of the fuso box body transporting maize from Nalya to Namboole, lost control at the roundabout, failed to brake, and rammed into 13 cars and 2 motorcycles, resulting into the loss of two lives.

The deceased persons include 1 female Passenger on a motorcycle & a male yet to be identified.

Kananura adds that an unspecified number of people were also injured and rushed to Gwatilo & Mulago Hospitals for treatment while, the two bodies were also conveyed to Mulago City mortuary for a postmortem examination.

The Motorvehicles which were involved in the accident have been towed to Bweyogere Police Station pending Inspection.

Investigations into the cause of the crash have kicked off and the hunt for the Fuso driver who is on the run has also commenced according to Kanunura.

Our reporter was also able to establish that among those injured were two students who had just graduated from Kyambogo University, Kampala.

The yet to be identified students were also rushed to Mulago hospital for treatment after surviving the accident that claimed at least two lives.
