Landslide in Kabale

NEWS- The territorial police in Kabale have registered an incident of landslides that claimed two lives.

ASP Elly Maate told the press that the incident happened on Tuesday, October 29th 2024 at around 3AM at Rwamacumu cell, Kasheregyenyi parish in Kamuganguzi sub county of Kabale district.

Maate identified the victims as Tayebwa Charles 18 years, a casual worker resident of Rwamacumu cell, Kamuganguzi sub county in Kabale district and another one only identified as Bosco, a shamba boy estimated to be 17yrs, of Rwandese nationality.

Police records indicate that on Tuesday morning at around 3AM, at Rwamacumu village, land with rocks slid into the house of Agrey Rukundo, damaged it and buried the two persons who were sleeping therein.

The area chairperson Abraham Nuwagaba informed area OC of Kamuganguzi who also notified the DPC and the district CID officer led a team to the scene.  

Maate stresses that the scene was visited, processed and documented, efforts were made and the deceased persons were extracted from the rocks.

Postmortem was done and handed over to relatives for burial arrangements.
