Wreckage of vehicle in Kabale-Kisoro road accident

NEWS- The Police in Kisoro district are investigating circumstances surrounding a fatal accident that involved three motor vehicles leading to the death of an occupant.

ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi region Police spokesman told the press that the accident included vehicles UBL 124F fuso fighter, UBG165K Mercedes Benz Actros and Hawo sinotruk with registration numbers UBK970D and UBN491E.

According to Maate, the accident happened on Friday April 19th 2024 at around 3:20Pm at Kagano village, Muhindura parish, Kanaba sub county Kisoro district along Kisoro Kabale road.

The Police spokesperson identified the deceased person as Tumuhise Abudallatif, 38 year old turn man in UBL124F fuso fighter.

The drivers of the three motor vehicles involved in the crash were also identified by Maate as Kitaali Abudalla, 53 year old musoga resident of Jinja being a driver of UBG165K, Lwanga Robert 48 year old, being the driver of the sinotruk UBK970D/UBN491E and an unknown driver of UBL124F Who is still at large.

Maate confirmed to this reporter that it’s alleged that, motor vehicle registration number UBL124F Fuso fighter that while from Kabale heading to Kisoro side carrying soda arsh (salt), as it slopped in Kanaba corners, developed a mechanical problem.

It’s at this point that the propeller Shafter detached from the vehicle and failed to break hence the driver lost control and knocked motor vehicle registration number UBG165K from behind and continued to collide with the oncoming UBK970D/UBN491E head on hence killing the turn man in the Fuso fighter instantly.

Maate points out that the scene of crime was visited by ASP Kushaba Michael and team of traffic officers, deceased’s body taken to Kisoro hospital for postmortem as Police recorded statements from the two drivers and the motor vehicles were towed to Kisoro CPS pending inspection as Police inquiries are at hand.

In another development, the territorial police in Kisoro district this week registered a death by electrocution incident that claimed the life of Henry Niyigaba 38 year old casual worker and resident of Nyamirama village Nyamagana Ward Central division Kisoro Municipality.

ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi Region Police spokesman stressed to the media that on the 17th April 2024at around 4pm, at Miami construction site opposite Salimu stage within Kisoro Municipality, while the victim who was working as a porter at the site, in the due course of lifting iron bars, they touched on the electric wires which enabled him to be in direct contact hence shocked him unconscious.

Maate adds that Niyigaba was rushed to Ndagijimana clinic by his workmates where he was pronounced dead moments later.

Police were notified by Pastor Eric Tumwizere, the scene was visited, processed and documented, postmortem was done and the body handed over to relatives for burial.
