NEWS– Two people were on Friday 2nd February 2024 struck dead by lightning. The tearful death happened at around
5:30Pm at Rukofe village, Chibumba parish in Murora sub county Kisoro district.
Kigezi Region Police spokesman ASP Elly Maate identified the victims as an 18 year old Twizerimana Florence a peasant resident of Rukofe village Chibumba parish Murora sub county and 63 year old Nyirandabazi Flora, peasant resident of Chibumba cell Chibumba ward Chahafi town council in Kisoro district.
According to Maate, it’s alleged that, on Friday, at Rukofe village Chibumba parish Murora sub county Kisoro district, while Twizerimana Florence was from the market and Nyirandabazi Flora was from the garden, as were together at the above village along the pathway, were struck by lightning to death.
Their bodies were found by the bypassers who include Murasa Benard and Nyiragasinda Lowin, the first respondents who immediately informed Police.
Maate confided to this reporter that the crime scene was visited and documented by the district soco together with a team of detectives pending postmortem examination to establish the truth of the matter.
