NEWS- As Uganda joined the rest of the world to celebrate International youth day, Lions club of Rukungiri took part in the celebrations by visiting St Francis Buhunga high School in Buhunga sub county, Rukungiri district where they did different activities as a sign of togetherness and unity.
The activities included students’ eye screening, planting fruit trees for environment conservation, student career guidance and donation of textbooks.
According to Mugisha Julius Kakwara, the head teacher St. Francis Buhunga high School, it was a privilege to host the Rukungiri lions club and celebrating the youths day with them stressing that this motivates students in many aspects as they take up their studies.
Kakwara noted that over 200 students received free eye screening services from the specialists and commended them for the donation of textbooks to their school library which will help uplift the academic performance of the school.

Eng. Hangson Nuwamanya the president of the lions club of Rukungiri Congratulated the youths upon their international day adding that they opted to visit St. Francis Buhunga high School to motivate students and give them career guidance.
Nuwamanya added that all those they found with any eye defect some were given immediate remedies while others were promised to be helped with eye spectacles which are already in process.
The Club President expressed his appreciation to the school for accepting their request to visit them and the cooperation exhibited, calling on students to join Leo’s club as they continue with their studies given the benefits associated.

Student leaders led by the school head prefect Joshua Muhanguzi and Patricia Musimenta, the head girl, thanked the lions club of Rukungiri for the good heart and appreciated their support of textbooks to the school library, planting fruit trees in their school for environmental conservation and eye screening pointing out that it’s a motivation to excellent academic performance.

It should be remembered that President Yoweri Museveni on Monday, August 12, 2024, presided over International Youth Day celebrations in Soroti district.
The day was held under the theme: Skills Development for Enhancement of Youth Opportunities” at Asuret Core Primary Teachers College.
