The Police in Rukiga District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of 35 year old woman identified as Nkanshabe Evelyn Shamirah also known as Kyarengava businesswoman resident of Rwabahanze Cell in Muhanga Town Council who was allegedly murdered on the 2nd June 2025 at unknown time of the night in Rubare Town Council in Ntungamo district.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists that its alleged that the deceased was called on phone by one Brian who is her boyfriend who claimed that he claimed he wanted to buy her drinks to which the deceased complied, and never went back home where the relatives got concerned hence reported a disappearance case at Muhanga Police Station.
Unfortunately, her decomposing body was yesterday found in Rubare Town Council along the road from where she was picked by the Police and taken to Itojo Hospital Mortuary in Ntungamo district.
Maate explained that the Police of Rukiga were alerted and the case file of murder was opened at Rukiga Police station and investigations commenced and the scene of crime was visited by both Traffic and CID detectives from Ntungamo and Rukiga, respectively together with Scene of Crime Officers.
Maate said that the investigations are underway and said that anyone with information that can lead the Police to those involved, should volunteer it so that they are arrested and charged accordingly.
Kyarenga as she was popularly known hailed from Mwendo in Maziba Sub-county in Kabale District where she will be laid to rest.
