KAMPALA– A joint operation by the Kajjansi Police and the Directorate of Crime Intelligence has successfully rescued a one-and-a-half-year-old child, Sserwada Lucas, who was kidnapped by the housemaid.

Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, says the victim was kidnapped from his home in Ngobe Zone, Bunamwaya on July 10, 2024.

It is alleged that the minor was kidnapped by one Nakija Prosy, 20, who had worked for the family for two weeks in connivance with her boyfriend Allan Kayanga in the night.

The child’s father, Nimrod Mugaga, reported the incident to Ngobe Police, leading to a swift investigation by Kajansi Police and the DCI, leading to the arrest of Kayanga in Luzira.

After his arrest he subsequently led Police to the whereabouts of Nakijja where she was apprehended with the child at the Mayuge landing site as she attempted to flee to another island.

Owoyesigyire says the child was found safe and sound, adding that the motives behind the kidnapping are still unknown, and the suspects are in custody at Kajjansi Police Station as investigations continue.

“We commend the dedicated team of detectives from the Directorate of Crime Intelligence for their swift response, which led to the successful rescue of the child. The suspects are currently detained at Kajjansi Police Station as investigations continue.” Owoyesigyire said.
