The Commander of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 2nd Infantry Division, Maj Gen Paul Muhanguzi, has praised the Division’s officers and militants for their outstanding service and dedication.

While speaking at a handover and takeover ceremony held at the Division Headquarters in Makenke, Mbarara City, Maj Gen Muhanguzi commended personnel transitioning into new roles across the force.

“I would like to thank all officers and militants in general, and especially those taking up new roles in other areas of UPDF operations, for the excellent performance exhibited while executing your duties in the division. Take the same spirit to your new positions,” Maj Gen Muhanguzi said.

Maj. Gen Muhanguzi underscored the importance of teamwork in achieving operational success and reminded troops to uphold discipline, particularly in light of the approaching elections and cautioned against the misuse of military gear, especially uniforms, and urged all personnel to avoid any form of misconduct.

During the ceremony, Maj Julius Mikayi Kule handed over the position of Division Administrative Officer to Col William Kakuru, as he prepares to assume a new assignment with the Joint Task Force in Juba while Lt Col Fred Mushambo handed over the Division Intelligence Office to Lt Col Gonzanga Gonza ahead of his deployment to Operation Shujaa.

The outgoing officers expressed gratitude to the UPDF leadership for the confidence placed in them and thanked colleagues for their support throughout their tenure and the event was witnessed by Unit Commanders, departmental heads and other senior officers.
