KAMPALA– It’s a dark and sorrowful weekend even at Makerere University following the death of Bagenda Joshua, registration number 21/U/0019, third year Bachelors of Medicine & Surgery student.
Information from the University indicates that Bagenda succumbed to Aspiration Pneumonia following ICU admission at Mulago Hospital due to a sickle cell.
Joshua passed on Thursday, December 14th, 2023, as he had been admitted to Mulago in critical condition.
A statement from the University pointed out the nation and the world has lost a resource unutilised.
Bagenda, who has been a resident of Mitchell hall is the latest to be reported dead succumbing to sickle cell anemia at Mulago hospital where he had been admitted on Wednesday, according to a communication from the deceased’s colleague.
Bagenda becomes a third Makerere University student to die in a period of less than three weeks others being Achola Patricia and Ssenkubuge Elvis who all died close to the end of last month.
The college of health science has condoled with the bereaved family and prayed for the soul of the deceased to rest in peace.
“May Bagenda’s Soul Rest in Eternal Peace. Our prayers go to his family, friends and the entire @Makerere” part of the statement reads.
Burial arrangements for the deceased had not yet been released by press time.
