NEWS- The Police in Rukungiri have launched investigations into the murder of a 29 old man a resident of Bigaga cell Rwerere town council Rukungiri district. The deceased has been identified as Medard Turyasingura.
According to a Police statement, Turyasingura met his death on the night of Monday the 29/01/2024 by unknown assailants.
ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi region police spokesperson noted that on Tuesday, 30th January 2024 at around 8am, at Ruhiira cell Kazindiro parish in Bugangari Sub County, while Kiconco Apophia was in her garden digging, Twinamatsiko Bruce who was bypassing besides where she was digging informed her that there was a body lying alongside the footpath near her garden.
The news promoted Kiconco to cross-check and upon witnessing it; she made an alarm that attracted local residents who gathered at the crime scene.
Additionally, Kiconco Apophia alerted the area chairperson who then reported the matter to police.
Maate told our reporter that upon receiving the information police visited the crime scene, examined and documented it by D/soco, D/CI and a team of detectives from homicide, body was conveyed to Rwakabengo HC III mortuary for postmortem examination.
The case of murder was officially registered at Bugangari Police station as inquiries are at hand under reference number CRB: 104/2024.
