RUKUNGIRI- The Manchester United Family Rukungiri Chapter on Sunday March 2nd 2025 visited Kakinga Archdeaconry and presented a gift to the newly installed Archdeacon Ven. Andrew Kananura.

The Manchester United Family Rukungiri Chapter brings together fans of an English Club, Manchester United and has so far been in existence for over nine years now.

While leading a group that delivered a refrigerator worth over Ugx 950,000, Henry Tugumisiriize, the vice chairperson of the Manchester United fans Rukungiri Chapter noted that it’s the family’s norm to stand with their members in both bad and good.

Tugumisiriize noted that their gesture is to break the stereotype and the mentality people always have on people who support football, advocating that such family born from supporting football can yield into sharing developmental ideas that can push the communities forward.

Tugumisiriize explained that their commitment stems from a desire to not only support their club but also contribute to community development initiatives urging fans of other clubs to prioritize social responsibility over unrest, emphasizing that such actions lead to progress and the availability of resources beneficial to all.

“We have so far done a lot to our members in the past 9 years to those that lose their dear ones and the ones who have had parties” said Tugumisisriize.

On behalf of the Manchester United Family, Tugumisiriize wished Ven. Andrew Kananura (a Manchester United Rukungiri Chapter family member) the best in his new position praying to God to help him in taking care of the flock.

Ven. Kananura was grateful for his fellow fans’ gesture, visiting and gifting him a refrigerator days after his installation, hailing the cooperation exhibited by the Manchester United family.

It should be remembered that on Thursday, February 27th 2025, Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe, the Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese installed Ven. Andrew Kananura Kanyonyi as the head of Kakinga Archdeaconry at Kakinga Archdeaconry Church of Uganda.

During his sermon, the Bishop emphasized the need for responsibility, calling upon the newly installed Archdeacon, Ven. Andrew, to teach believers the importance of obedience. He noted that Protestants often struggle with obedience, whereas other religious groups tend to be more disciplined.

This is not the first time Manchester United Fan family is doing similar gestures. Last year, the family supported two churches in Rukungiri Municipality, i.e Christ the King Parish and All Saints Church of Uganda.

At Christ the King Parish, the Manchester United fans donated 1 million towards the purchase of seats for the new church and a seat at All Saints Church.
