Uganda's 11th Parliamentarians in Plenary

KAMPALA– Parliament has directed the Transport and Works Ministry to explain the continued delay of construction works for the 93 billion shillings Kiwoko – Butalangu road whose construction works have stalled over the years. It should be remembered that in 2017, the loan for its construction was secured from the Islamic Development Bank after approval by the Parliament.

The Nakaseke Central legislator Allan Mayanja raised the matter on the flow of Parliament citing an 8.1% completion rate against the would be expected 64% by now.

Hon Mayanja noted that the continued stalling of the project has affected business and free movement of people in areas where the road spans through and this has also scaled up to project affected persons.

The State Minister for works Musa Ecweru in response revealed that his Ministry has learnt of the challenges faced by the contractor Dot services.

This prompted the speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa to direct the line Minister to conduct a thorough investigation into the project and avail a report to parliament on the same.
