NEWS- The Rujumbura County Member of Parliament who is also the Security Minister, Maj. Gen Jim Katugugu Muhwezi has honored his pledge of iron sheets to Bugangari Secondary School in Bugangari Sub County, Rujumbura County in Rukungiri District.
The 432 iron sheets worth over Ugx 21 million was delivered and handed over to the School Authorities led by the Head teacher Tiiragana Tembo together with other stakeholders by Isaac Kaharuza, the Political Assistant to the Minister in a colorful function held at the School.
Kaharuza told the congregation that the Minister is doing all this development of the support rendered to him and the National Resistance Movement NRM during the election promising that he is ready to deliver more as per the government’s target of having all Ugandans out of poverty.
The Political Assistant highlighted a number of developments the Minister has so far worked on during the current regime including rehabilitation of roads, expansion of maternity ward and fencing of Bugangari Health Centre IV, supporting rehabilitation and renovation of Schools as well as lobbying for an Ambulance for Bugangari Health Centre IV.
Minister Muhwezi through Kahuruza hailed his coordinators for the tremendous work in supporting and mobilizing the community to vote for him before charging the School Administrators to put the Minister’s donation to the intended use for the benefit of the community as a whole.
He also delivered Ugx 5 million the Minister had auctioned the President’s and his portrait during the 22nd September school fundraising.
“Thank you Bugangari SS administrators for the work you are already doing. The Minister is pleased that the cement he gave you just a month ago has also done a visibly commendable work. This is awesome, keep it up, we will support you the more” said Muhwezi through his P.A Kaharuza.
Tiiragana Tembo, the Bugangari Secondary school head teacher expressed happiness and extended his appreciation to the Minister for honoring his pledge of giving them cement and iron sheets for the refurbishment and renovation of the dilapidated buildings most of which were built in 1980 when the school was initiated.
Tiiragana noted that the Minister isn’t supporting them for the first time, pointing out that he previously donated to them a photocopier to help them in printing students’ exams, supported them in putting a school playground as well as other iron sheets he had given to them some years ago.
The head teacher promised that the donation will help to lift the status and face-look of the school as well as elevating their education stands and performance since the learners will be accommodated in a conducive learning environment.
Tiiragana added that despite the above support, the school still has a number of issues they would want the Minister help them to rectify including a wanting staff ceiling where he said that the school has only 10 teachers on government payroll of the 31 staff members, to lobby for them a library and computer laboratory to fulfill the government’s target of ICT in Schools.
Juston Byamukama the Bugangari Sub County boss used the platform to tell the members present at the handover that Rujumbura County lost a lot during the previous electoral term when NRM lost the seat to the Forum for Democratic Change.
Byamukama narrated that Minister Muhwezi has helped the educated constituents to get jobs and others elevated to higher offices of service all that wouldn’t have been possible without him.
Ahimbisibwe Dan, the Bugangari sub county coordinator to the Minister highlighted a number of projects the Minister has so far supported in Bugangari Sub County including a helping hand to institutions like churches, schools among others.
Ahimbisibwe said that Minister Muhwezi has complemented the government in ensuring that the community accesses services near to them unlike the previous term where electorates were being only fed on lies and unfulfilled promises.
Mugabirwe Gad, the Bugangari Secondary School Chairman PTA told the congregation that Rukungiri district as a whole chose capable and able leaders who remember and give back to the community towards development.
The Chairman also praised the Minister for the already fulfilled work and the pledges he is about to work on for the good of his people.
The ceremony was graced by a number of Bugangari Sub County leaders from the village to district, Minister Jim Muhwezi Coordinators from the entire sub county, staff among others.
