NEWS- Uganda’s Security Minister Maj Gen Jim Katugugu Muhwezi has underscored a need for unity among the citizens if they are to develop their communities and the country as a whole.
Minister Muhwezi who is also the Rujumbura County Member of Parliament made the call on Thursday December 28th 2023 during the official launch of Buhunga My Heritage an association that brings together individuals born and those married in Buhunga Sub County of Rukungiri District.
In his message read for him by Kuteesa Edwin Kaziriri, from the office of the president under the Ministry of security in charge of Kampala metropolitan, Minister Muhwezi urged the residents of Buhunga Sub County to rally behind Associations as an unshakeable pillar of Development.
Buhunga My Heritage is a public Association initiated to foster general development and the launch function was held at Katurika Secondary School in Buhunga Sub County, Rukungiri District.
On his part, Kuteesa welcomed the initiative and rallied members to support this Association whole heartedly emphasizing that development is based on unity which empowers lobbying and resource mobilization. He delivered one million shillings cash from the Minister towards the operations of this association.
Hon. Nahwera Santurina, the Rukungiri District Vice Chairperson who is also the Buhunga Sub County District Councilor extende appreciation to the Minister and asked his representative to inform Minister Jim Muhwezi about the Association’s need for a tent to shelter their gathering as well as being a source of income and urged members to strongly mobilize others for the growth of the Association.
Hon. Natukunda Jackline, the Buhunga Sub County Vice Chairperson appreciated the vision of the association vision bearers and urged members to strongly support the association for its variable development.
Tumwebaze Alex, the Buhunga My Heritage Chairperson revealed that the Association was initiated by few individuals on 27th January 2023 with key objectives including Social networking, promotion of welfare, community empowerment and entrepreneurship but currently has 252 members.
During the same function, the former Minister for Healthy Dr Alex Kamugisha who hails from the area also contributed Ugx 200,000/=.
