In another development, the Rwenzururu King, Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma has reiterated his earlier call to his subjects to embrace the practice of planting more trees as a way of fighting against global warming.
The Omusinga sounded the remarks while addressing members of the Akethu Akakera who had paid a courtesy visit to him at his Kamaiba based Royal Palace in Kasese town.
The members of the group had gone to visit the King to present to him their proposals about environmental protection and restoration of culture.
In his remarks, the Omusinga explained that planting trees helps in the formation of rainfall that supports agriculture.
He, however, observed the need for his subjects to practice modern agriculture including the digging of terraces especially for the farmers living in the mountainous areas.
For the case of the people living in towns, the Omusinga, called on them to embrace urban farming that involves the use of sacks and containers to plant some greens and fruits among others.
The Rwenzururu Cultural leader used the same platform to encourage the couples to work together in an attempt to cause development in their respective homes.
Mr. Ernest Kasoke, the General Secretary for Akathu Akakera while reading their report indicated that the group has a component of environmental conservation that involves tree planting both on the highlands and valleys that have remained without.
He also noted that they were planning to form peace clubs in schools so that they too help in promoting peace messages at their respective schools and communities.
