MP Rutahigwa and other dignitaries at Kakonkoma COU

NEWS- The Rujumbura County Member of Parliament who is also the Country’s security Minister Hon. Maj Gen Jim Katugugu Muhwezi has rallied Christians to always join hands in ensuring building and beautification of God’s temple.

Minister Muhwezi’s message was delivered to the congregation at Kakonkoma Church of Uganda in Southern Division, Rukungiri Municipality by Hon. Wilson Kajwengye of Nyabushozi County during a fundraising service to raise money for the construction of a new church.

Minister Muhwezi contributed Ugx 5 Million towards the cause that saw 21.4 million shillings raised out of the required Ugx 556 million.

Hon Kajwengye who also rallied the congregation to join hands in supporting this cause personally purchased a cow for Ugx 3 million to further support the work of God.

The North Kigezi diocesan Deputy Chancellor, Counsel Isaac Atukunda who is eyeing the Rukungiri Municipality Parliamentary sit urged the congregation to push on with this construction stressing that there’s no loss in working for the almighty.

Counsel Isaac contributed 50 bags of cement to help in the construction process and giving a new look to God’s palace.

The Rukungiri Municipality legislator Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa expressed his admiration for the Christians’ contributions towards their church construction, noting that the project is nearly halfway completed even before the fundraising event. This, he said, reflects their unity and love for God.

Preaching at the fundraising ceremony, Rev. Erick Baingana Mugyenzi, North Kigezi Diocesan Secretary, encouraged Christians to always give back to God, acknowledging His protection amidst life’s challenges. He urged them to remember their setbacks and give thanks to God as an act of thanksgiving.

Rev. Andrew Mwijuka, Parish Priest of Kakonkoma Church of Uganda and John Biziringyi the head of development expressed gratitude to Christians, guests, and well-wishers who contributed to the fundraising event.

The church’s expansion, estimated to cost Ugx 556 million is already underway.

The fundraising function was graced with support of Frank Muramura, Director of Kings Way High School Kampala, Rev. Edson Ampaire, North Diocesan Missioner, Rev Andrew Kananura the North Kigezi Diocesan youths worker, the Rukungiri business community, Christians and political leaders among other well-wishers.
