RUKUNGIRI- Over 20 million shillings in cash and pledges and 170 iron sheets have been raised at the fundraising event for continuation of Kabasoni Catholic Church under Rwamagaya parish in Ruhinda Sub county Rukungiri district.
At the event, the guest of honour minister Jim Muhwezi contributed 150 iron sheets to help in the roofing process whereas Hon Medius Natukunda Kaharata the Rukungiri district woman legislator also contributed 20 iron sheets for the same cause.
Minister Jim Muhwezi was represented by the Rukungiri business man Bernard Mugarura Kaharata who urged people of Ruhinda Sub county to always choose leaders who will always support the development of their areas. Kaharata revealed that minister Jim Muhwezi together with the district Woman MP have cooperated together in this term of office where they have supported churches, schools , and other sectors hence asking Christians to support them overwhelmingly in the next elections.

Rev. Fr. Luben Mubangizi the parish priest Rwamagaya hailed Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi, the Minister of security and Rujumbura county Legislator for being a developmental leader who is God fearing since he has supported almost all their churches in the parish especially in construction hence asking residents to reward him in 2026.

According to Rwamagaya parish council Chairperson Vanasio Natuhwera Bagatireyo, they’re working hard to construct strong permanent churches following the recent heavy rains and wind that destroyed some of their catholic churches their parish like Kafuka and Kanyamishekuro.
He added that Christians have cooperated and worked together to raise funds to construct their churches with the help of their leaders and children living in Kampala.

Other contributors included Posiano Ngabirano the proprietor of capital shoppers with 5 million and other residents from Ruhinda under their development umbrella of Abanyaruhinda ba Rujumbura.
The event was attended by Hellen Kabajungu the Ruhinda Sub county Chairperson, other political leaders, business community among other well wishes.
