RUKIGA– The State Minister of Finance Henry Musasizi has hailed the Family of the late Apollo Nyegamehe alias APONYE for keeping his business empire intact, one year after his tragic death.
Minister Musasizi was today speaking at the Memorial service for the late Aponye at St. Luke Muhanga Catholic Parish Church in Muhanga Town Council, Rukiga District. The ceremony was presided over by Msgr. John Vianney Sunday, Vicar General of the Kabale Diocese.
Nyegamehe who was also the Rukiga District NRM Chairperson, died on 1st July 2023 in a car crash at Itojo, along Ntungamo -Mbarara road.
Minister Musasizi thanked the Family (Shareholders) Board of Governors, and the Staff for working hard to keep the business intact.
“We thank the late Aponye for his contribution to the National economy, and his family for continuing his legacy, one year after his demise.”
Minister Musasizi also recognized the late Nyegamehe’s personal support for the NRM Party and President Museveni.
“He was much involved in mobilization for support to the NRM and President Museveni , and his contribution was always remarkably producing desirable results in Rukiga District and the country at large,” Musasizi said.

According to Ben Tukwasiibwe, head of Communications at Aponye Ug. Ltd, the company directly employs up to 500 people and up to 1.5 million Ugandans are depending on the company both directly and indirectly.
“We have a strong leadership structure that oversees operations at Aponye Ug. Ltd, headed by the Managing Director Harold Byamugisha. There’s also the Board of Directors, Shareholders and other workers to ensure that we move on even without our proprietor,” Tukwasiibwe said.

The deceased’s widow, Vangilista Mugabiirwe Nyegamehe said they had managed to maintain her husband’s legacy by holding regular evaluation meetings, technical assistance from his former business partners, loyalty of the commodity suppliers and the commitment from the hundreds of workers in the company. Ms. Mugabirwe thanked workers for staying focused after the death of her husband.

In his Homily the Kabale Diocese Vicar General Msgr. John Vianney Sunday asked the Family of the late Nyegamehe to continue his legacy of not only supporting the Church financially, but also keeping his faith in God.
“All that the late Nyegamehe did for the Church was because he had uncompromised faith in God,” Vianney said.

Meanwhile, the family is planning to donate until they fully clear his pledge to the St. Luke Muhanga Catholic Parish Church Construction project.
