Minister Sekindi’s pledge follows several requests made by some politicians and Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu yesterday during the official handover of three water projects in Nyamwamba Catchment Area by the Ministry of Water and Environment to Kasese Municipal Council and Kasese District Local Government.

Subsequently, the Minister said she would remind the Office of the President that the flood victims who are living in Muhokya Internally Displaced Camp needed to be resettled after years of suffering.

Hon. Herbert Bwambale, the Kasese Municipal Secretary for Social Services told the Minister that the process of resettling the victims needed to be expedited, arguing that they were also complaining of receiving less support from the government.

Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi, the Kasese District Chairperson, noted that it was high time for the flood victims to be resettled following the long period of time that they had completed in the camp experiencing difficult conditions.

The Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Joseph Kule Muranga on his part asked the government to devise means of utilizing the rivers for irrigation purposes in an attempt to fight against the challenge of food security and malnutrition in the district.
