NEWS- The Mitooma district council on Friday rejected the works committee report for the financial year 2023/2024 and has given them a 30 days Ultimatum to produce clear accountability of 1 billion and 250 million road fund that was given to the district in the last financial year.
In a meeting that was convened by the district speaker Moses Tumwekwatse at Mitooma Town council hall, all committees presented their last year’s financial reports for adoption however the works committee report was rejected due to a number of irregularities and poor accountability.
A section of councilors including Tumusiime representing Kashenshero, Leo Rwakinyagi representing Mayanga, Muhoozi Dickens representing Nyakizinga and Ambrose Rwekarika representing Rurehe sub counties respectively noted that the accountability that was given in the report was not satisfactory especially where 1km was costing about 5m for just grading the road.
