NEWS– The Police in Rukungiri District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a man only identified as Ronald at Kasoroza cell in Kigaga Parish in Nyakagyeme Sub county.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman ASP Elly Maate told journalists that the OC station Nyakagyeme Police Mabwijano Posiano received information that Ronald allegedly cut his aunt identified as Mary Bahekire whom he had been staying with in Rwebikona Trading Centre in Kasoroza cell.
The angry residents ran after him with stones and sticks and beating him and Nyakagyeme Police officers followed to rescue him but unfortunately he died before he could be taken to hospital.
Maate said that the scene of crime was examined and documented and relevant statements recorded from witnesses and the body was taken to Rwakabengo Health Center III mortuary for postmortem examination while the victim is currently admitted at Nyakibale hospital.
Meanwhile the he territorial Police in Rukiga have arrested two suspects allegedly for the murder of 62 year old woman identified as Claudio Oworinawe, a resident of Kabimbiri Village in Kyerero Parish in Bukinda Sub-county.
According to Kigezi Region Police Spokesman, the suspects include Byarugaba Christopher aged 42 years a mason and resident of Kabimbiri Village in Kyerero Parish and Tumwijukye Fausta aged 51 years and a resident of Kyumbungu village in Bugarama Parish in Kaharo Sub county in Kabale district.
It’s alleged that the deceased, went to her home on Tuesday after she had taken some liquor and entered in her house and slept, but at unknown time in the same night the suspects found her in the house and started fighting her until her death.
Preliminary investigations indicate that both parties have been having land issues being handled by relevant offices including the Police land desk.
The scene of crime was visited and documented, body was conveyed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination and the two suspects were put under Police custody to help in investigations as investigations continue.
