The Police in Kanungu District haveregistered a fatal road crash that claimed the life a 40 year old rider identified as Mwetise Apton a resident of Kanyatama cell in Southern Ward in Kanungu Town Council.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the accident that involved vehicle registration number UBQ 599U driven by 53 year old Gaabo Henry a resident of Kihihi Town Council and motorcycle registration number UGA 174J.

It is reported that the truck and the motorcycle were both from the same direction of Kanungu to Kihihi Town and the motorcycle was in front and on reaching at Katoma along Kanungu Kihihi road, the driver of the motor vehicle intended to overtake the motor cycle and in the processes, he ended up knocking it from behind and the rider died on spot.
Maate explained that the scene was visited by the Traffic Police, the body was taken to Kihihi Health Centre IV Mortuary for postmortem examination and both motor vehicle and the motorcycle are parked at Kihihi Police Station pending Inspectorate of Vehicles inspection.
Maate attributed the accident to reckless driving by the driver of motor vehicle and investigation are going on.
